HPC have been successful in winning funding from a Welsh Government backed initiative for the Rapid Sanitisation of Ambulances (Welsh Ambulance Trust)

Hygiene Pro Clean (HPC) has recently taken part in a specialist decontamination trial. The overall aim being to significantly reduce the time it takes to sanitise ambulances, therefore supporting the NHS with the ongoing battle against COVID-19.

HPC won funding to improve the decontamination process and was able to halve the time it takes to decontaminate ambulances from the standard 45 minutes to 20 after transporting a suspected Covid-19.

Led by the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Centre of Excellence and Welsh Ambulance Service, the challenge was to effectively decontaminate the ambulance, reducing the current turnaround time, and to get it back on the road quickly and safely.

Interest in this challenge was huge, with entries from over 200 businesses, each with their own unique  proposal; covering the length and breadth of the U.K. HPC were selected to become part of the final group of twelve, winning both funding and support.

HPC’s extensive experience and delivery of their proven Effective Decontamination Process won them a place on a panel of four finalists. Hygiene Pro Clean (HPC) has learnt from many years’ experience as a leading business in the decontamination industry, Effective Decontamination is only possible when certain key elements are delivered together. These key elements include, The Delivery System; The Chemicals / Reagent and The Complete Methodology.

This complete decontamination service, delivered by HPC, ensures that not only the’ topical’ viruses, such as COVID-19, Norovirus and Influenza are destroyed; but also other viral and bacterial threats such as Mould, Odour Control and Bio Hazard issues are dealt with simultaneously. A complete decontamination service in ONE application.

The Delivery System is based on the revolutionary HPC Ultra Sonic Atomiser which has been designed and developed in-house by HPC working closely with Salford University. The atomiser heavy mist is delivered at 10-15 microns which ensures effective and, efficient delivery. Total coverage is achieved, even on complex and convoluted surfaces, without heavy / over wetting during producing a decontamination that includes both surface area and volume of air. Indeed, in light of the trial HPC have developed a unit UICAT (Ultrasonic Infection Control Atomiser Trolley)for all aspects of infection control and ease of manual handling for daily use.

The HPC Decon Pro Clean Reagents cover a very broad spectrum. There are no known pathogens immune to the Log-7 efficacy and they are both safe and non-toxic. The complete delivery system has been proven to achieve a Log-7 kill consistently, exceeding

the Pharmacopeia Gold Standard of Log-6. Our services can furthermore provide on-site and immediate confirmation of  the level of decontamination achieved thereby providing our end users with confidence and demonstrable assurance.

Our HPC Optimised Delivery Methods are verified, validated, tested and certified. HPC products are EPA registered, and the company holds many industry memberships and accreditations including The Institute of Decontamination Sciences, The Green Clean Institute and ATCC - the premier global biological materials resource and standards organisation offering an extensive collection of products manufactured under ISO certification and accreditation.

Support for the challenge has been provided by the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) and government scientists based at Porton Down, the site of the Ministry of Defence's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), and a site for Public Health England.

Jamie Borgeat, Managing Director of Hygiene Pro Clean comments, “We were delighted to have made it to the final list of four from a very strong starting field of over three hundred. Unlike so many other off the shelf solutions, our Experience, tailored Processes and unique Products mean we can offer an Effective Decontamination Solution to our clients. We were confident we could help solve the challenge which will make a significant contribution to both the safety of patients and NHS Staff and the efficiency of NHS Wales”
